Europe is rapidly digitalising, and so is Belgium, from our classrooms to our job markets. But for young people with physical and sensory impairments, “digital” is too often a wall, not a doorway.

Inclusive Horizons is a transnational project designed to tear that wall down. Bringing together partners from Belgium, Romania, Greece, Poland, and Spain, we are working to ensure that the digital shift empowers everyone, rather than creating new forms of exclusion.

We believe accessibility should not depend on where you live. As part of this project, we are contributing to a shared European approach by pooling expertise across borders:

• We are co creating a multilingual accessibility toolkit with more than 10 essential tools, including AI applications, braille, audio, and sign language, all compatible with assistive technologies.

• We are training 15 youth workers in inclusive learning and assistive tech, helping make non formal education spaces where everyone can take part.

• We are supporting 100 young people with physical and sensory impairments through mentoring and digital literacy workshops tailored to today’s labour market.

• We are connecting over 25 stakeholders, from NGOs to tech providers, to build a cross sector network that keeps digital inclusion on the agenda.

While the project is European, the impact is local. In Belgium, this means making sure that the digital landscape includes every young person, regardless of their physical or sensory ability. By bringing these tools and approaches into workshops and advocacy, we are working to move young people from the margins of the digital economy to the centre of it.
