VIEWS News April 2017

Dear members, partners and friends,

here we are again, with another issue of this newsletter. First of all, we'd like to wish you a very happy (though belated) Easter: we hope you had a lot of fun and ate many chocolate eggs... without exaggerating of course!

April has been a very busy month for us: we sent appplications to host three EVS volunteers (from Italy, UK and France) between October 2017 and June 2018. And we know that some of our members have been equally busy sending application forms for Erasmus+ projects due to take place this summer. We hope you will receive positive answers and we're looking forward to hearing more about your projects. We'll be glad to circulate them through this newsletter, so don't hesitate to keep us informed!

In this Spring issue, Anca will tell you about her experience in Thailand, where she spent the whole month of March for a job shadowing in the framework of the "Strength through Solidarity" project. Besides, you will discover all about Theo's experience as youth mobility worker in Trieste. You'll also get to hear what was agreed on the last meeting for the "VIP awareness-raising on unemployment" project, which was recently held in Berlin. And then, as promised, you'll hear about another meeting which took place in Berlin... fashion-related this time! Finally, there will be the 5th episode of "Portrait of the month", with a very inspiring guest.

Enjoy reading!

Anca's job shadowing with "Always Reading Caravan"

From the 3rd of March to the 1st of April, Anca took part in a job shadowing in Northern Thailand, with the partner association "Always Reading Caravan" (ARC). Does this name ring a bell? That's right: you already got to meet its president, Yoshimi Horiuchi, in our last issue.

The job shadowing was organized in the framework of the “Strength through Solidarity" project, which involves 8 partner organizations from Europe, South America, Africa and South East Asia.

Anca came back to Belgium with a lot of interesting things to tell and many unforgettable memories. You can read all about her Thai experience here.

Theo's Triestine adventure

While Paola was discovering Liège and getting to learn French, another youth mobility worker was busy exploring every corner of Trieste and getting a hang of the Italian language... or should we say the Triestine dialect?

Theo was sent to Trieste, Italy, in the framework of the "VIP awareness-raising on unemployment" project, and he worked for three months at the Istituto Rittmeyer, one of the partner organizations of the project. He extremely enjoyed his time in the city where James Joyce conceived some of his masterpieces, though he finds that time went way too quickly. Here you can read all about Theo's Triestine adventure.

Last meeting of the "VIP awareness-raising on unemployment" project

The third and last meeting among the five partner organizations involved in the "VIP awareness-raising on unemployment" project took place in Berlin from Wednesday 19th to Friday 21st April 2017.

Though the weather was far from good, participants still had the chance to enjoy the city. They also had some very fruitful discussions about the project, which has now come to an end.

Here you can read the full account of the 3-day meeting.

Third meeting of the "Beyond seeing" project

The third and last meeting of the project "Beyond seeing - innover le design de mode sans les yeux" took place in Berlin, between the 3rd and the 6th of April. As promised in the last issue, Jonathan, one of the Belgian participants, who also took part in the previous meetings, sent us a detailed account of the 4-day Berlin gathering. Enjoy!

Portrait of the month

Here's the fifth episode of our column "Portrait of the month", with a guest whom you've already met... in this very issue! This time, though, Theo won't be telling us about brochures and policy papers, but about the way he sees life: with great enthusiasm and contagious positivity. Here you can read Theo's inspiring interview.

VIEWS International is pleased to announce that an electronic General Assembly of our Board of Administrators will be called next month (May 2017).
